VaCom Interns Wrap Up A Productive Summer

Summer 2020 Internship CollageSan Luis Obispo (California), September 4, 2020. The VaCom Technologies summer internship program hosted three promising undergraduate mechanical engineering students from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  VaCom connected with these students at Cal Poly’s ASHRAE career fair for the Mechanical Engineering department’s HVAC&R concentration.

Out of VaCom’s San Luis Obispo office, the interns primarily worked with the Consulting and Performance Monitoring departments.  Each intern  performed independent research on topics including aqua-ammonia absorption systems, available 3-D field surveying technology, and full-load and part-load refrigeration compressor regressions.  The students also assisted with performance monitoring weekly checks and each had an opportunity to travel on site with another engineer to see and learn about industrial refrigeration equipment in person.

Despite a year, and particularly a summer, that has been very challenging due to COVID-19 restrictions and precautions, VaCom is grateful to have been able to follow through with our internship program.  We are enthused by the performance of these students and wish them the best as they each enter their senior year at Cal Poly.  We look forward to seeing them become productive and proficient engineers.
